This is a bit hippy but hey.
I love not planning. There's a magic in just doing something without any real idea exactly how something will turn out, just letting things grow as they want to.
A small example. Some odd-jobs need finishing as I'm renting a place out, and in one I need to complete a window sill which I'd thought to tile, but time is short so I just think let's smooth it over with some tile cement and just paint it for now.
But as I'm smoothing off the final patch of cement, I spy a plant just outside the window and notice the thick veins on the leaves, I pick one and lay it flat on the wet cement and press it in, then repeat with some more wildlife. The result: a collage of fossiled plant-life. A cheap & cheerful alternative to tiling.
